IWCADV runs many exciting programs and events for the Ipswich community. These are aimed at promoting awareness of and capacity to address domestic violence in all its forms. Some of our events include:

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month - May each year

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is held during May each year to raise community awareness of the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence, and the support available to those affected. The theme for 2011 was Act as one against domestic and family violence.

The key aims of the month were:
  • to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and its impacts
  • to promote a clear message of no tolerance of domestic and family violence in Queensland communities
  • to ensure those who are experiencing domestic and family violence know how to access help and support
  • to encourage people who use abuse and/or violence to take responsibility for their abusive behaviour and seek support to change

IWCADV will be hosting workshops and activities during May 2012 in the Ipswich region.
