IWCADV’s community development program seeks to empower individuals and groups by providing the Ipswich community with the skills and opportunities they need to affect change around domestic violence. IWCADV has a lead agency role in the community, providing an integrated response to domestic & family violence issues. This involves the provision of training and resourcing, networking with other organisations and services and the provision of community education on domestic & family violence. We are also committed to raising awareness of domestic violence through strategic events. We hope to contribute to building the Ipswich community in justice, equality and mutual respect in which diverse populations have access to and are included in all aspects of community life. "Solidarity is not a matter of altruism. Solidarity comes from the inability to tolerate the affront to our own integrity of passive or active collaboration in the oppression of others… From the recognition that, like it or not, our liberation is bound up with that of every other being on the planet, and that politically, spiritually, in our heart of hearts we know anything else is unaffordable."
